I applied for the position of Senior Java Developer thru posting on LinkedIn. Initial phone interview was within a week with HR. Next I was given a test assignment to complete within 24 hours. This was followed with in-person interview the next week, with HR and technical. After a week or so, they contacted me again for second in-person interview with senior HR and senior developer.
In the end, they declined me because I wasn't senior enough for the job. Got confused because usually employers reject based on low technical level, mismatch skill sets, and/or personal aptitude. So why the second interview, or even select me in the first place if I wasn't fitting the seniority criteria?
