I had a phone screen with a recruiter that went very well, so she put me forward to speak with the hiring manager for a 45-60 minute interview.
The night before the interview I fell ill, so early in the morning and hours ahead of the scheduled interview time I reached out to have the call rescheduled. The coordinator rescheduled for a 30 minute call instead.
I emailed back asking about the length difference, as I was concerned about not having the time to go through all the interview topics. Nor the coordinator neither the recruiter answered to my email. After a few days I reached out to the recruiter with the same question, but again, my email was ignored.
The day of the interview came and instead of interviewing for 30 minutes I interviewed for 25, as the hiring manager called late.
Asana has great employee reviews, but interview experiences don’t paint the same picture.
Not answering to candidate’s emails, questions or doubts while they are in the process of interviewing is unprofessional and disrespectful, and sends the message that you just don’t care.
I take that if the standard schedule time for an initial call with the hiring manager is 45-60 minutes, shorting it to half won’t allow for the same depth. And again, this sends a message of not only inconsistency and disorganization, but of a lack of interest in the person being interviewed.
Unsurprisingly, after a few days I got a canned rejection email.
In the meantime, their recruitment staff praise itself for “striving to give great candidate experiences”.
