I applied online. I interviewed at Ashby (Denver, CO) in Jun 2026
Interview
I applied to the position through Ashby's careers page direct. I was contacted by a recruiter within a few days and we scheduled a call to go over the position and my role fit.
The call went well and I was told that I would hear back at the end of the day or the next day at the latest to schedule the next interview. I was also invited to email and questions I had about the role; I did email a question and did not get a reply. I followed up the following week to see where things were at and did not get a reply.
Two weeks later, I got a survey emailed to me asking me how the interview process went...
I sent a message to the recruiter for a final check-in and informing that I received a survey to reflect on the process that I was ghosted on.
I filled out the survey and submitted it, very similarly structured to this post, and within an hour I got a reply from the recruiter informing me they decided not to pursue my candidacy.
It would be one thing to experience this through any other random employer but for an org in the hiring domain that put so much emphasis on a pleasant candidate experience, I was mortified this would be the company to receive this treatment from.

Interview
The interview process at Ashby was incredibly smooth. The first round was a standard recruiter screen utilizing an AI note-taker. What truly stood out was the follow-up: even though I didn't advance, they actually emailed me with constructive feedback from the interview. It did make me wonder, though since they use an AI note-taker, is the AI actually the one comparing candidate answers and generating the final results and feedback behind the scenes? Regardless, that level of transparency is very rare right now.
Thank you for sharing this and for highlighting your experience.
To clarify how we use AI notetaker, it allows interviewers to be fully present with candidates during the conversation while still capturing notes. It is not used to compare candidate answers or make hiring decisions. All interview feedback and hiring decisions are human-led.
Thank you again for the feedback and thoughtful questions.
