I applied via-online at a job board for the digital marketing role. One of the reasons I applied was the mere fact that it was something different then what I normally apply for. I explained during the interview process I have the marketing experience but was looking for a company that would be ok with me learning their business using my skillsets. They stated it was perfect fine if I didnt have industry knowledge. However, after the interview process I get feedback stating they went with someone who had industry experience instead.
My advice is if you are not going to be actual open to the idea of candidates that may not have direct industry experience then you need to add that to your job description and vet them out vs setting up these pointless interviews. Your wasting our time and that is not a great outlook for you since now we are having negative experiences from that.
