      Software Engineer Interview

      16 Aug 2015
      Anonymous employee
      York, PA
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Assurant (York, PA) in Aug 2015

      Interview

When I first came in for my interview I was meet by two people from HR who asked me to fill out another application while they took my resume and made another copy aside from the one I had already emailed previously. I then waited for 20 minutes or so and was then interviewed by 4 or 5 different people, 4 or 5 times. Some of the people conducting my interview portrayed a feeling as though I was interrupting part of their day. On the other hand some interviewers were very polite. They asked basic questions that are normally asked for any job, then they introduced me to who would be my supervisor for my shift. She then showed me around the building and explained exactly what I would be doing when I start work with Assurant. The interview process only took about and hour an a half and I was given my start date and work schedule. Then we had set up a date and time for me to do the orientation before my first day of work. The orientation process was about 2 and a half hours long, but one person in particular out of the 3 who had done the orientation was very rude and snubbed any questions anyone had about the company, which I felt was very unprofessional. From the time I had applied until I had gotten hired was about 3 weeks.

      Application

I interviewed at Assurant (Dallas, TX)

      Interview

The interview process was smooth and consisted of three rounds. The first round was a brief phone screening. This was followed by a one-on-one session with my prospective manager that lasted around 30–45 minutes, where he asked about my previous work experience and posed a few real-world API-based scenarios. The final round was a panel interview with 5–6 team members. They asked a mix of behavioral and technical questions, with a strong focus on real-world situations—for example, how to make an API more robust or how to handle security concerns. A significant portion of the discussion centered around my past work experiences, particularly how my contributions influenced the overall functionality and success of the product. The panel seemed especially interested in understanding the impact I had made in my previous roles.

      Application

      Interview

1 informal phone screen with the recruiter about experience and some behavioural questions. This was followed by a video interview with the director, they mostly went through my resume and asked me questions based on that. The third was a panel interview with seniors from the team (Vice President, Director, Team Lead). They asked me in-depth questions on my resume and tech stack I have used.

      Software Engineer Interview

      24 Jan 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Assurant

      Interview

Had a phone screen but that was about it. The interviewer seemed kind enough, but said they were hiring for candidates who could start immediately. That being said, he said he would talk to his hiring manager to see if I could still be considered for the process, and said that he would try to get an email with their decision at the very end of the day. I never got that email, and it's been about a week and a half. I sent a follow up email asking if I was still being considered for the process, and no response. If you're going to reject a candidate, please send out a rejection email. I would have said this was a positive interview if I had received any form of communication, because I understand that the process was geared towards someone who could start ASAP, and I genuinely had a good time talking to the interviwer. Very disappointed.
