1. HR Screen where HR asks questions about your background and you have the opportunity to ask questions about Aula.
2. Past Experience Interview - with hiring manager and another member of the wider team. This consists of more detailed questions being asked about your past experience. There were no behavioral questions or questions around Aula's virtues.
3. Focused Interview - Interview again with hiring manager and another member from another team. I was given a document in advance and told the interview will dive deeper into the document. However, this document was barely referenced during the interview. This stage felt a bit repetitive and more like the first stage.
4. Virtues Interview - with HR and the People Leader. (I believe this is generally held with the People Leader and the COO). HR was wonderful in that they sent a video before this interview detailing what was expected and what the interviewees were looking. This helped a lot in my preparation as I could practice my answers based on what they were looking for. There were 3 questions, each about each of Aula's virtues; more like behavioral questions.
I was told the average interview process at Aula is 2-3 weeks but mine took a bit longer as I was traveling and had personal matters. I received the offer shortly after the last stage. There were no surprises on my start date (I had communicated that before hand) or the salary (HR had told me the salary range in the screen). I was a little skeptical about the interview process, given the negative reviews on Glassdoor. The HR team is small so the folks who I were in contact with were fairly new to Aula (I am assuming the negative reviews were from previous employees).
Overall, I had a very positive experience! I definitely saw the reflection in Aula's culture during the interview process; being transparent, all video interviews as Aula is a remote company and video calls are part of the culture. Each person was very approachable, warm, welcoming and each interview was a 2-way conversation. I did not feel intimated at all as HR well prepared me for each step!
