I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Awesome Motive in Jun 2024
Interview
I was contacted by the HR of the company for the role of Copywriter. Although I'm a Content Marketer with little to no experience in copywriting, which was communicated initially itself, she said the "team thinks I'm a good fit for this role". Mind you, there were content writer roles too. Anyway, I had two interviews and an unpaid assignment. After completing the assignment I got the feedback within a couple of days saying I didn't get through. I didn't get a reason as to "why". Then she said there was another copywriter opening and asked If I was interested. I said okay, and connected with the Director of Marketing. In that conversation, I realized that this role wasn't for me. Then again, I was asked to write another unpaid assignment. Absolutely disappointing. I even expressed my concern regarding the role to HR at this point, and I'm pretty sure even the interviewer knew I wouldn't be fit for the role. But they decided to go ahead and waste my time with one more assignment (unpaid again) because they couldn't judge me using my previous assignment or portfolio. Long story short, I got rejected again with no real feedback except that I didn't get through. It was a total waste of my time and effort.
I interviewed for a copywriter position, and honestly, it was a frustrating experience. As a professional with over eight years of experience, I found the interviewers asking basic questions. When I answered confidently, they responded with disbelief and made silly comments about my interview experience, implying I must have been on many interviews.
It felt like they thought my qualifications were too strong for their team. Ultimately, I was rejected, which is baffling given my expertise and the positive feedback I received. This reflects poorly on their hiring practices, and the CEO should really reconsider who conducts interviews, as this treatment of skilled candidates is unacceptable.
