      Software Engineer, Backend Interview

      22 May 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Barcelona
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at BVNK (Barcelona) in May 2026

      Interview

The screening interview felt very rushed and lacked enough context for a meaningful conversation. There was limited explanation about the company, the specific role, team scope, technical environment, and expectations before moving directly into generic questions. As a candidate, I found it difficult to properly assess fit when there was no upfront clarity around stack, responsibilities, compensation range, or even a proper initial alignment conversation before the technical screening. Overall, the process felt unstructured and not very engaging. I believe a clearer introduction to the role and better context before the screening would significantly improve the candidate experience.

      Question 1

How does it make sense to ask about salary expectations before providing enough transparency around the role itself, responsibilities, technical stack, or the compensation range being offered?
