I sent a message to the recruiter on LinkedIn after applying and got a response right away. During our initial call, the recruiter seemed really excited, actually recommending that I interview to the Merchant position when I had applied for an Associate Buyer role. When I interviewed with the team lead, it could not have been more obvious that he did not want to be on the call with me. I assumed that he had already decided on a different person to fill the position or something, because he was clearly unprepared with very few questions for me and asked me very little about my qualifications for the role. I tried to negotiate my questions about the role to include my qualifications, but still, I couldn't get him to engage with me. After the interview, I emailed to thank him for his time and ask a follow up question, to which I never received a reply. A week or so later, I emailed the recruiter to let them know I was still interested in the other roles I had applied to and never received a reply. I emailed again and never received a reply. I was utterly GHOSTED. 5 weeks after my interview, I received a form letter saying that they had ultimately decided not to go forward with the position at all. Perhaps the person I interviewed with knew that at the time and that is why they acted with such disinterest (had rescheduled the meeting and arrived late to boot), but that does not excuse the disrespect. I also wondered if the recruiter, who had responded to me so enthusiastically, had been relayed poor information about me from the interviewer! I am rating the interview as difficult since it is extraordinarily difficult to speak with someone so utterly disinterested in speaking with you and understanding your qualifications.
