      Senior UI Engineer Interview

      1 Jul 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Jose, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Balbix (San Jose, CA) in May 2019

      Interview

Phone Interview + 2 Onsite Interviews Th process took 2 weeks or more and the team was really friendly. My personal experience was really bad or May be not the right time with the team to get hired or May be they do not seem to have any open position. Pros: 1) Excellent product. 2) Talented engineering team. Cons: (The list is just so huge.) 1) The team looked very unorganized and seemed very unprepared for this interview. There was a moment in this interview process when I entered the office for this interview, literally there is no one to greet me inside. It took a good 2 minutes for the team to figure out that they had an interview scheduled for me. 2) The interviewers showed disinterest in the work they are currently performing at Balbix. 3) The CEO was super unfriendly or rather unprofessional. I did have an interview with the CEO for more than 20 minutes and the CEO did show signs of over confidence. Even signs of negligence on the candidate. 4) The rejection email doesn't really have any explanation on why the candidate has been rejected or this shows how much the team or company cares of the applicants. Glad I did not accept such offer if at all offered. This shows the team doesnt care for each other.(I seemed like I have answered all the questions asked during the interview and was rejected with no good feedback.) 5) The interview process is super unorganized. No clear steps or advance note on who is in the interview panel. I believe they really do not have an open role here. Advice to the management: 1. Please do not send false positive signs to the candidate that you are being offered the position after the interview, candidates does tend to have other priorities or opportunities and better be clear in-front.(There was a moment post interview that the hiring VP has discussed about the expected salary as if they liked my skills or decided to move forward) 2. Please prepare for the interview or reschedule the interview if any important member of the panel is unavailable. Instead of asking the candidate to drive 50 + miles twice in a week just to interview with one interviewer. 3. Interview process can be transparent (who is in the panel?)and this will help the candidates applying for the position to prepare well. 4. Please have clear vision on the kind of candidate you would like to hire. No good feedback means no real open position or you do not care about candidates.
