1 Zoom call with the BenchPrep recruiter. Before my call, I was asked to complete a word doc with questions and upload it to the drive. The questions were very odd and seemed like they didn't review my resume whatsoever. One question even asked, "If you are unemployed, share why you left your last position." This felt a bit inappropriate to me and quite biased. The recruiter really focused on why I wasn't employed and seemed turned off that I had been a part of mass layoffs. The interviewer didn't seem very interested in talking to me and asked all the typical screening questions. I was quite a bit overqualified for the position but was interested in learning more about the role and the company since I have both EdTech and HRTech experience. I didn't think I would move forward because of my extensive experience, and I was correct. I received a very generic, canned rejection email. Overall, I did not like the interview and how 'forced' it felt and wouldn't recommend BenchPrep based on the one call.

Question 1
Explain your last 3 roles and how they align with BenchPrep and the CSM role.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at BenchPrep (New York, NY) in Feb 2025
Interview
6 round process, multiple stakeholders, in depth interviews about the role and responsibilities. I was given a false sense of assurance and skills overlapping with their needs.
No response for 2 weeks. I had to follow up and got a canned rejection email with no feedback.
This is ridiculous and highly disrespectful. To not even have the courtesy to have a 15 min follow-up call after all that time investment is extremely rude and demeaning.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at BenchPrep
Interview
Slow, bureaucratic. Seemed like no one wanted accountability for making a decision so they put you through several rounds of hiring and panels then make you wait for multiple weeks for any kind of an update. Status quo these days I suppose. And, looking at employee reviews, this tracks for a company that seems to be failing from leadership issues and product differentiation. Good riddance.
