I applied online. I interviewed at Bending Spoons (Milan) in Jan 2024
Interview
Once you pass the CV screening there are 3/4 steps to be completed at any time. Each step has 3-4 tasks and if you pass them you go to the next. Each task is either a logic exercise (For which you can't really prepare), or a personal open question about your motivation or experience. The last two steps are coding exercises.
I've passed all the task and failed on the coding questions because of the time, I have added comments and explained what I was doing but since they look for "Excellence" they rejected me.
The whole process happens without meeting anyone and only a recruiter follows up with some emails, the logic questions are pretty cool but there is no room for error, and if you make one there is no possibility to explain it.
After 10 hours spent on the process (each task takes ~1h) it would be nice and polite to give some personal feedback and/or let the chance to the candidate to explain what went wrong.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
[coding question] Given a number in base 3, write some functions to apply operations like sum and shift. Then more functions, then with more data at hand optimize the functions.
I am still on 3rd stage, I have cleared 2 assessments. I dont know what to expect from the interview or how many more stages there are but from what I have heard , I guess atleast 2-3 interviews
Online screening in a zoom call with a recruiter. With some questions asked about the job, some about strengths and previous experiences as well as a few questions about the company
There was a task round and then some interviews. The process tests a lot of logical reasoning and quick thinking. The interviews were mostly focused around soft skills and problem solving. If you like logic puzzles this process is pretty interesting.
