I applied through university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at BlackRock (Wilmington, DE) in Apr 2014
Interview
Applied through recruiter after attending college campus event. Phone screening with HR, then longer phone interview with hiring manager. Hiring manager asked both tech and behavioral Qs to check fit and technical skills to perform the job. Next was a half-day round of interviews at the Wilmington, DE office with 4-5 people. These could be colleagues on the same/sister teams, team leads and one senior manager (or Director) . Basically to test your fit and interaction with peers and seniors. Most interviewers were friendly and also give you the opportunity to learn about the day-to-day work culture. The interviews were also a mix of technical and behavioral questions, although you do get a list of interviewers beforehand. So it is was not surprising that a manager with years of experience in java and financial software tended to ask more tech questions than a director with only financial background. HR returned with updates and an offer in a week. Total process took about 3 weeks, although the background check (after i accepted) took longer for me because of my experience overseas.
