I received an email from a recruiter several weeks after applying, asking if I was available for a phone screen. The job listing said it was a remote position. The first question the recruiter asked was if I could comply with a 4 day in-office requirement in Virginia. I explained that I was in another state, and he said “yeah, I saw that and wondered if you were relocating.” I informed him that the position said remote, but I would be open to relocation with assistance. He informed me they do not provide any relocation assistance, and that was the end of the call. Overall, it was a complete waste of time for something that could’ve been verified through email. It’s incredibly concerning that a company as large as Bloomberg would use these type of predatory hiring practices. This experience completely ruined my opinion of the company, and I would discourage others from wasting their time. The recruiter didn’t seem remotely concerned with the fact that the listing was incorrect and wasn’t apologetic for wasting my time.
