I was asked to complete a strategic project as part of the interview process; however, it was unclear whether the intention was to genuinely assess candidates or to collect ideas. I recommend that candidates protect their intellectual property and clearly indicate ownership of original concepts (they will steal your strategy and use it). Additionally, a $50 gift card incentive that was communicated during the process was never provided, which left an unprofessional impression.
