I was first screened by HR, which is standard. Two weeks later, a Zoom interview was scheduled with the hiring manager. However, during the interview, the manager didn’t ask any relevant questions and ended by stating they planned to interview ten candidates and would follow up in two weeks.
I promptly sent a thank-you email, only to receive a response a couple of days later informing me that they had moved on with another candidate. This isn’t the first time I’ve had my time wasted by this organization.
This experience was frustrating. Many candidates—myself included—are genuinely seeking positions that align with their skills and qualifications. Respecting our time is the bare minimum. If you already have a candidate in mind, be transparent. I later learned that this was, in fact, the case.
I invested significant time preparing for this interview and rearranging my schedule, only to be met with a process that felt dismissive and disingenuous. Do better, BCH.
