An existing employee referred me since they were hiring. Had an initial phone call with the owner/CEO primarily about my salary requirements. He low-balled me severely saying there was not enough money to afford my salary (which was under-market at the time), so I told him I couldn't accept and then he magically acquiesced. Found out later the company is filthy rich and he's just cheap.
