      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Bridgewater Associates in Apr 2011

      Interview

I applied for the position in January and was contacted in March via an email asking me to complete a reading comprehension assignment. I had heard about their 'different' interview practices, so I was prepared for this. I completed the assignment and returned it immediately. Another month went by before I heard anything. The 2nd email asked to schedule an afternoon to meet 3 people. I scheduled the interviews but received no response to my inquiry of how to best prepare. Instead, I received links to 2 work personality tests that I was to take within 48 hours. I received a 20+ page report of my results for the 1st test, but no report for the 2nd test until about an hour before I left to go to the interview. The results were also over 20 pages, too much to look through before the interview. The offices are beautiful but creepy - No one walked alone- everyone walked in pairs, the office was extremely quiet, most had fake smiles plastered on, and everything was OCD clean. Even the parking garage. An HR person greeted me and gave me a summary of the process as she walked me to the interview room. A 2nd person came in and spent an hour with me, and recorded the interview. . Yes...she RECORDED the interview. This was a huge red flag for me. What was the purpose of recording- Paranoia? Analysis of the interview? Is that even legal? I'm not sure, but once she hit the record button I knew I didn't want to work there. She was pleasant, if not a bit condescending, and asked every few minutes if I had any questions, if I reviewed the website. Nothing was asked about my background, experience, why I wanted the job....she only seemed concerned with my impressions of the company and the job. At the end of our meeting, she stopped the recording and went to get the person who would bring me to the person I was to meet with next- the person the job reported to. I hurriedly wrote down a few questions for the next interview, and noticed a video camera above me. I have no idea if they taped a video or just an audio recording of my interview, but either way it was extremely uncomfortable and I had the distinct feeling I was being watched. I was alone for about 10-15 minutes before someone mercifully arrived to bring me to the last interview. The last person I met with is the person the job reported to. She was rude, obnoxious, extremely impatient and made it very clear from the 2nd I walked in that I was wasting her time. She recorded me as well, tapped her leg impatiently the entire 15 minutes that she spent with me. She asked about my test results, not for the 1st test of course- she wanted to know in depth my results for the 2nd test, the one I received an hour before I left my house. So I explained I had only just received the results and had not had a chance to review them. She was extremely put off by this, then by the fact that she was given someone else's scores with my application. There is no way wanted to work with her or anywhere in this company, so by this point I really didn't even care. I asked a few questions, and left. A week later I received an email saying I was not the right fit...THANK YOU!! Advice to those braving an interview: READ THE WEBSITE, in and out...all 100+ pages if you really want the job Be able to give a detailed answer for every question they ask, no matter how trivial. They are not satisfied with the typical brief interview responses Have at the very least 5 GOOD questions for each person you are scheduled to meet with. All 3 people I met asked numerous times if I had any questions, and seemed displeased if I said no. Carefully read through all tests they send you, and memorize your results- they will ask what you thought of the test, its accuracy, etc, and will ask you to explain your answers Be prepared for the unexpected...they have a very lax dress code, will record everything from the minute you step on the property

      Interview

My interview was set up by a recruiter, and when I arrived at Bridgewater, I went through an extensive interview about my work experiences and then they proceeded to question me about what I thought of my results of the Meyers Briggs test I was requested to take prior to coming to the interview.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Bridgewater Associates (Westport, CT) in Sept 2011

      Interview

Recruiter submitted my resume on Wednesday and they called on Friday to schedule an interview on Tuesday, the day after Labor Day. I was emailed a copy of Ray's Principles, various press clippings, links to employee videos to study, as well as two different personality/behavioral assessments to be completed before the interview. I was advised to study the results from both exams and bring copies with me. I was given very specific instructions about parking, building entrance, etc., as well as driving directions to the campus. Everyone I met with along the way was warm, friendly and personable, up until the actual Hiring Manager, of whom i had been warned. She kept me waiting approximately 45mins and then ate her lunch while she interviewed me. I had been advised from the recruiter, as well as all of the research I had done online, that this woman was rude and difficult and often only met with candidates for a few minutes before abruptly dismissing them. However, for some reason, I believe she was interested in me and kept me there for a long time.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

There weren't really any unexpected questions because i had been briefed on what they expected and what they ask during the process. The tricky part was really the personality/behavioral tests because they really do hire according to the "right-fit" in terms of a group/team dynamic, so there is difficulty in knowing how to present yourself, since you have no idea which slot in the team they're looking to fill.
