      Senior Embedded Software Engineer Interview

      17 Mar 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Minneapolis, MN
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at BrightAI (Minneapolis, MN) in Mar 2026

      Interview

The interview process lasted about a month and included conversations with an internal recruiter, hiring manager, director, and SVP. While the team was generally friendly, the overall experience felt inconsistent and lacked structure for a senior/staff-level role. Most discussions were high-level and focused on prior experience, with limited technical depth. Some observations from the process: Limited technical depth: For a company positioning itself as highly technical, the interviews were largely surface-level and did not include meaningful technical challenges or deep technical evaluation. Role ambiguity: There was limited clarity around the scope of the role and what success would look like. Expectations felt loosely defined throughout the process. Strategic clarity: Responses around company direction and priorities were fairly general, making it difficult to understand how the role contributes at a staff level. Recruiting coordination (major concern): Communication from the recruiter was inconsistent throughout the process (missed calls, shifting timelines). I was explicitly told to expect feedback within a short timeframe after final interviews, but after multiple follow-ups, I received no response. Being completely ghosted after investing significant time in a multi-round process is unprofessional and disappointing. Overall, while the individuals I spoke with were polite, the process lacked rigor and coordination. Candidates should be prepared to ask very direct questions about role scope, expectations, and company direction—and be aware that communication during the process may be unreliable.
