BriteCore Data Engineer interview questions

I had to solve a couple of simple coding puzzles before getting to the real project; build a simple API. There's another review here on Glassdoor proposing that BriteCore is somehow extorting applicants and using the submissions to generate revenue, but that's absolutely not true. The API is a throwaway that has little to do with what BriteCore actually does. The interview was with the VP of Engineering and an HR person, who asked no tough technical questions for anyone with experience fitting the job description.
