Overall, the interview experience was disappointing. The panel asked questions that were already answered in my application, suggesting they hadn’t reviewed my materials in advance. The role itself was described vaguely, with no clear indication of long-term prospects, professional development opportunities, or job stability.
I didn’t feel my time was respected, and the process did not meet the standards of international recruitment processes.
The Head of School asked about my experience in the film industry, something unrelated to the role I was applying for or the teaching programmes for the advertised job, which made the conversation feel even more disconnected.
The major issue came afterwards:
- There was poor follow-up from both the faculty lead and the HR team.
- Later, I was informed by current staff that the hire had already been chosen based on the Head’s personal preference, even before the job was publicly posted...
This made the whole process feel disingenuous and performative. A frustrating and ultimately time-wasting experience.
