was a conversational interview with head of recruitment and a partner. It was an easy positive process and not overwhelming. I enjoyed the chat but was told in feedback my answers were very long.
1 stage process with 2 partners and HR. Lasted about 30 minutes. Questions fairly easy and straightforward. Asked 1 practical question at the end that was related to my field.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Brodies (Aberdeen, Scotland) in Feb 2025
Interview
Brodies is a highly competitive firm to join, so I was extremely nervous heading into the interview.
However, the process was the most relaxed I have ever encountered. It was held with an Associate and the Head of Graduate Engagement, and they both made a great effort to put me at ease. Within five minutes, I had forgotten it was an interview, which is testament to how excellent the process was.
It felt more like a casual conversation than a formal process, and by the end I was chatting quite happily about my favourite books, and the most bonkers problems I had ever encountered through work. The questions were very insightful ones, mostly about me as a person, my interests, why I chose to begin law, and how I would deal with certain situations. I wouldn't say it was an easy interview, but it was conducted in such a calm and relaxed atmosphere, it was easy to consider each question and give a full answer.
The interview focused on getting to know me as an individual, rather than legal knowledge or grades. It was a great experience and made such a change from other interviews I had attended!
