      Developer Interview

      7 Aug 2024
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Brooks Automation

      Interview

Initial screening with HR, then hiring manager, two separate interview with business stakeholders, then final with group VP. Interviews were not terribly difficult, but were in depth and they asked lots of questions and let me do the same. Things were looking good. Then enter HR. The position was posted as an FTE. I was bait-and-switched to contract-to-hire at the very end. Strike one. After asking what the rate/salary would be, I was told "you have to accept the offer before we will tell you the salary." Strike two. Mind you, going back and forth on the offer took two weeks, which I completed all those interviews in one. Not long into my employment, I mention my contract and that due to workload and required weekend work, I'm going to be well over 40 hours and entitled to, per terms of the contract 1.5x hourly rate. Manager implies by saying, "I thought you were exempt," that I need to not record those hours on my timesheet. Strike three. Do with this information, what you will.
