      Illustration Artist Interview

      18 Jun 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Athens, GA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Burton and Burton (Athens, GA) in May 2018

      Interview

I had two face to face interviews with Burton and Burton and met with several different people during the whole process. During the first interview I learned that the job required product design experience which was not clearly stated in the job description. Despite my portfolio not including any of this, I was asked for a second interview. I left being told a test project was to be sent to me, ultimately trying to see if I could apply my illustration skills in a product design format. I waited for almost two weeks and followed up twice about the project. Finally I got a call from HR who informed me that they completely reworked the position twice. Now they are looking for more of a Production Graphic Arts person who mainly deals with art boards and preparing files. This entire process has been unorganized, misleading, and a waste of personal time regarding drives made from out of state and work/pay missed from my current job.

      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Burton and Burton (Bogart, GA) in Apr 2018

      Interview

I had two interviews with Burton and Burton, The first was a phone interview that lasted about 1 hr. I did a face time interview and it was pretty good, They wanted my to fly to Georgia but I asked if we could face time instead. The two ladies I interviewed with were really nice and made me feel comfortable, I didn't have much experience with making products but I was told I would be taught. I received a call 2 days later asking me to fly to GA to meet with the CEO for a final interview and I accepted. I flew to GA a week later and met the CEO, she made me feel like I was wasting her time and the interview lasted no longer than 20 mins. Nonetheless I was very interested in the job and felt I was a right fit. The first week I heard nothing and sent an email, I was reassured I would hear from them soon. I waited another week and still nothing so I sent another email, and was told I would hear from them the following week. The next week rolled around and I saw they had relisted the job, I still never heard anything back so I reached out days after seeing the listing. I finally received an email telling me they wanted someone with more product design experience. This was definitely something they could had decided before I made the trip from another state in the first interview, but I was reassured I would be taught. The fact I had to pry my rejection out of them showed a lack of professionalism.
