      Project Manager Interview

      17 Feb 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Des Moines, IA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Businessolver (Des Moines, IA) in Apr 2014

      Interview

If you get selected to interview, their first step is a video interview tool using InterviewStream instead of a phone interview. You have the option to answer the questions twice before it is saved as final. The HR recruitment team was helpful in answering questions on the video process setup requirements. However it took awhile to get the results.

      Interview

Overall Experience: One Star Interview Process: I was contacted for an interview by Brenna Wilson and asked to complete a sensitive background check with Terefic before speaking with anyone . I communicated my discomfort with this premature request and asked to be kept informed about the process. I never received a response or further follow-up. The process stopped immediately after I raised my concerns. Interview Questions: No interview was conducted. Advice for Management: Reconsider the practice of requesting sensitive background checks before candidates have even had a chance to screening with recruiter and interview. This approach can be off-putting to candidates and reflects poorly on the company's hiring process.

      Question 1

Reconsider asking for background checks before the initial candidate screening call. This can signal distrust to candidates and is a poor first impression.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Businessolver in Jul 2025

      Interview

I applied some time in April. On July 15, I received an email from a Talent Coordinator/Consultant with a list of questions that were to be answered via email in order to determine if they wanted to move forward with a screening call. I was moved forward to the screening, which was on July 16th. The next interview, with two fellow PMs, was scheduled for July 22nd. I was then moved forward to a Job Tryout, which was scheduled for August 1st. Two days before the Job Tryout, I was sent a PDF file of all of the instructions, which included basic client information, details about where they are in the implementation process, challenges, and a little more. There was a project status template at the end of the document, and my task was to present a project status update call to the "client" aka the interviewers. They want to see how you present information to a client, so it wasn't hard, but it was involved. Between all of the interviews, I had to complete two different personality/knowledge assessments. I also was told that, as I finalist, I would have to go through a fraud check and a reference check. The fraud check was easy to complete. The reference check consisted of me filling out a survey about myself. I also had to get two previous managers to go into the system and fill something out. They did not want former coworkers, just managers. A small sidenote, a lot of the correspondence was handled by two different people, so I never really knew who I would be getting my next email from. After all of the work and time I put into this process, neither of the two people I had been talking to had the grace or courtesy to reach out to me to personally tell me I had not been offered the job. I was not offered feedback. I was given one of those generic emails. During my entire interview process, the same job posting was reposted twice. It was also reposted the day I received my rejection. To this day, that same job posting is on their website, which makes it seem like they aren't actually hiring for this position, so please proceed with caution.

      Question 1

I found this out before it was asked, but they do want to make sure you are ok being more than just a PM. You will be going into the system to help out with testing. This is a more hands on and involved PM position than some PMs might be used to.

      Interview

Process was very easy. Video interview, standard questions, good explanation on the company. I felt that it was a very fair and nice process. They explained the company and the position as best they could. It was with the hiring manager so of course they could not answer all questions asked about the job details but most were provided.
