      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Businessolver

      Interview

Over the span of 2 months, I went through 4 interviews plus a phone call with additional questions. I was highly qualified for the job. One of the main concerns they seemed to have was the fact that I'm in grad school. Every 6 months, I have to take some time off (about 6-7 business days) for in-person residencies. They seemed extremely concerned (overly so) with my need to take 7 business days off every 6 months (despite having an unlimited PTO policy) and also extremely concerned with my ability to work full-time while doing grad school full-time (I've been doing that all year so far and it hasn't been an issue; I'm 100% confident in my ability to do my job well while in school). Today, I got a no-reply rejection email. After 2 months, 4 interviews + an additional interview-esque phone call, all I get is a no-reply email. The least they could've done was personally sent me an email thanking me, mentioning ways I could've improved (or allowed me the opportunity to ask via a reply-able email), and wishing me luck. They wished me luck, but again: it was a no-reply, automated email. I do feel I dodged a bullet, in a way, based on this overall experience. The interviews themselves were fine. 45 minutes, pretty chill (though obviously stressful because interviews are stressful), the people were nice and I enjoyed talking with them. But the overall experience? Not good. I kept getting told, "You'll hear back from us next week about an offer" for at least 3 weeks out of those 2 months. And then to hear back via no-reply automated email is offensive. I was also really shocked by their concern regarding PTO. If asked for in advance, it's their job to accommodate PTO within reason (I get 2+ weeks being an issue, but I was only going to be taking 7 business days every 6 months). They seemed unsupportive towards the concept of a potential employee bettering themselves via school and unwilling to believe that potential employee when they said they could handle both full-time work and full-time school (information which was brought up by Businessolver; I never brought up grad school on my own, so far as I can recall). Overall, I was unimpressed and frustrated with the process, and despite not getting an offer, would've shared a positive experience on here if it had been. I appreciate the time they took to ensure they made the right choice, but to take as long as they did after the 4th interview to decide, and then to finish it out with a no-reply automated rejection email felt like a total slap in the face. I can only hope they treat their actual employees with more dignity and respect. I can see why the reviews on Glassdoor are negative. I would definitely be cautious, if I were you.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked me what I would do with my PTO. They asked about my design experience. We went over my portfolio. Asked how I would juggle grad school and work.
