I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Canonical in Oct 2023

      Interview

There are many steps in this interview process. I did a written interview, an aptitude test and a coding test. I did not mind the many steps but I did experience a weird behavior from the recruiter. I got the link for the coding test for which they gave me one month to complet. I was a bit busy so I took my full month to prepare and take the test. In the meantime, a got a couple of emails from the recruiter saying that if i am not interested in the position anymore i should withdraw the application, to which I responded that I am still interested but did not yet have the time to prepare, and assured the recruiter I would be submitting on time. I did submit, and after checking my application in the portal a few days later, I see "your application has been withdrawn" with no other communication from their side. I find this condescending behavior to any applicant that took a lot of time to take part in this rigorous process.

      Interview

Like other people have mentioned, it starts off with a three-page questionnaire. I "passed" (used chatgpt with my resume to prompt it), and then took an aptitude test. One of the tests has mirrored and flipped letters which kinda seems ableist... like what if you're dyslexic? I passed and then it was coding questions. I passed and then they scheduled three 1hr meetings with different people. Tbh this seemed unnecessary because I knew after the first chat I was not qualified for the role. Didn't get chosen to move forward, but they told me in a timely manner, which I appreciate. The interviewers were very kind. But to even get to the point of talking to another person, there were a lot of hoops that I had to jump through, and if they had scheduled a 15 minute call before assigning me the previous tasks, the company would have saved +4 hours for themselves. They also try to make it seem like a way shorter process (summarizing it into three parts) when I am sure y'all have already gathered from the reviews that it is closer to twelve. But all in all, certainly not the worst interview process I have experienced.
