Pros: Heard back really fast after submitting my application.
Manager and Assistant Manager were kind and pleasant to interview with.
Cons: The interview seemed to go very well. I had complimentary experience for this role. I got along with the personality type of both managers (seemingly).
A week later, the manager informed me that I did not get the role, but they were “holding my information” for a future opportunity. And the manager seemed sincere and kind in that promise.
This same position reopened and closed a few times, as I was waiting for a phone call and keeping an eye on it.
So I can’t help but feel mislead or given false hope.
Advice: I appreciate hearing back from a manager on a hiring decision. That’s a step above a lot of companies out there.
But if you are in a role for hiring new employees, be upfront with them. If they’re not a good fit, politely tell them. And even give pointers on how they could get hired in the future. Being mislead hurts much worse than hearing the honest truth.
The hiring managers were nice, but hopefully this feedback can help them to be better in the future.
