      Programmer Interview

      21 Dec 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Etobicoke, ON
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Capcom in Nov 2009

      Interview

Consists of resume screening (obviously) and 2 rounds of technical tests. One being generic technical question with some coding. The other one is a on computer test for several hrs. My advice for ppl applying is just be honest with the employer and really know your C++.

      Application

The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Capcom (Etobicoke, ON) in Aug 2010

      Interview

Applied directly to their website. Was contacted to have a 1 on 1 interview at their Etobicoke office which is essentially one big room with desks besides each other. The interview was conducted by one of their Producers and a senior Programmer. Was asked a couple personality questions after which the Producer left. Was then given a couple of programming questions by the Programmer to do on the whiteboard. The producer then came back and explained more about the position. I took the initiative and had a couple of demos of my past work on my laptop to show to them but they weren't interested. They basically judged my programming skills from a couple of exercises on the whiteboard! I had demos to show I was serious about making games but for whatever reason, they weren't looking for creativity but rather another code monkey. They also didn't have any long term vision as they refused to support the Android platform. Sent a thank you email the next day as a courtesy only to get a response a MONTH later stating they weren't interested. Would not recommend you interview with these guys unless you really want to break into the gaming industry and taking scraps. Poor eye for talent and long-term vision.
