I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Caterpillar
Interview
I applied online and received an email response to speak to someone on the phone. We spoke briefly for a few minutes about expectations, why I applied and availability for a phone interview since I was not in the area at the time. I interviewed with a panel of 3 people over the phone two weeks later. Then two weeks afterwards I was invited to do a site visit, after the site visit an offer was made for the role.

I applied through university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Caterpillar (Spokane, WA) in Mar 2012
Interview
Called for an interview a few days after meeting the HR manager at a networking event. Largely behavioral questions with huge emphasis on STAR response. Not incredibly difficult questions, but very mentally draining after an hour and a half straight.
Got a call back after a couple weeks by the same HR manager saying I interviewed very well and the group really liked me, but I didn't get the position because I didn't have enough supervising experience. I couldn't help but chuckle inside because it was an entry level position.
