Old man that was the owner interviewed me and oh man so many red flags:
It is painfully obvious that this company especially in Toronto tries to take advantage of new comers that have a language barrier and in need of endorsements to stay in Canada by overworking them and setting ILLEGAL expectations.
The owner first brags about his credentials and how he's such a successful business man and it would do me well to impress him but I doubt there is ANY space for your professional career to advance given what transpired in the interview.
He expected me to 'train' for a week at one of their busiest locations at pacific mall so I can 'learn the ropes' in hopes that I will work for free (which is highly illegal.)
He then stated that I was to work from 6:45 am (15m before the mall opens) to 7pm (when the mall closes); during this 12 hour shift it would be frowned upon to take a break and use the washroom and you only get a 15m lunch break (which again, is illegal in Canada to not give out or give out such short amount of time for breaks.)
He offered to hire me on the spot. At this point I was shocked and just said I would think about it. Later I would decline the offer and give him a piece of my mind about his unlawful practices.
