      Data Analytics Engineer Interview

      29 Jun 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Checkout.com (London, England) in May 2025

      Interview

The interview process wasn’t bad - but it was very long. I applied for the role in February 2025, and there was an interval of about two weeks between each round. As a result, my final interview took place at the beginning of May. The process included: an initial call with the recruiter (which only happened on the second attempt, as the recruiter disappeared for about a week the first time); a round with managers focused on my experience; a technical interview; two onsite interviews - one technical and one behavioral. Everything went well until the final behavioral interview. During that conversation, the manager mentioned that promotions are not available to individuals but only to the team as a whole. This was a huge red flag for me, especially since it was framed within a “team-as-family” narrative. After that interview, I never received any further communication or notification from the company. While it wasn’t a loss for me personally, it does highlight their overall approach to the interview process and communication.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

1 - The first two rounds focused on questions about my professional background and previous work experience. 2 - Technical Round - included two SQL tasks, which I’d describe as medium-to-hard level, similar to those found on HackerRank. 3 - Technical Round (System Design) - I was given a near real-life scenario and asked to design a data pipeline based on it. 4 - Behavioral Interview - questions about my day-to-day work preferences, team communication, and what I consider most important in my role.

      Data Analytics Engineer Interview

      18 Dec 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Checkout.com in Sept 2024

      Interview

      1. HR Screening Round (45mins): Mostly on experience and setting expectations for the call. 2. Hiring Manager Round (90min): 45 Mins Discussion on Experience/Projects, 45mins SQL on Hackerand. Very Easy 3. Datamodelling Desing: Based on two tables, and 4 questions, end to end pipeline. The Panel for the 3rd round only wants to hear what they know. If you mentioned best practices or anything above and beyond, they seemed confused. The follow a certain way and if your answers matches that certain procedure, then only they are happy. Really disappointing

      Data Analytics Engineer Interview

      22 Aug 2024
      Anonymous employee
      London, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Checkout.com (London, England) in Jul 2024

      Interview

There were 5 rounds. The recruiting team is responsive, and the process was swift and smooth. I appreciated their transparency and was informed of what to expect at every stage. The interviewers were professional and amiable and I had a good time conversing with them. (1) recruiter screen: understanding work experience and motivations (2) technical round with more questions on work experience and relevant domain questions and a 45 minute SQL assessment on Hackerrank. (3) system design round for data engineers (data pipelines, dimensional modeling etc.) (4) and (5) were onsite behavioral rounds to understand how I worked within a team.
