I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Cherwell Software in Mar 2020
Interview
Contacted by recruiter within days of applying. I then spoke to one of their developers. Everybody couldn't have been more pleasant and I was excited about continuing. I took a look at the take home assignment which seemed strange and not even related to the work that they do. It was an assignment with extremely vague instructions as well as offering no expected time to take on the assignment. I'm all for take-homes in lieu of whiteboarding but there should be a) details and expectations laid out so that people don't spend too much time and b) a resonable estimation of how much time the assignment should take. I wasn't even sure what they were looking for (i.e do you want it as representative of potential production code or are you just looking to get some specific answer? Do you want to see unit tests and SOLID code or just build the "right" algorithm for the question?) and wasn't sure to compose a front-end for the application or not. Unfortunately, I decided against taking the time to do it since I was given no indication as to what the potential interviewers would be evaluating me on.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us your feedback! We have worked very hard to create an interview process that let’s our candidate “show us their best” thru this code assessment (to your point, we avoid the dreaded white board as much as possible….). We recently did make a change in that assessment and appreciate the feedback that we can provide some better guidance. Should you want to re-engage with our team please reach out to us at Recruiting@cherwell.com.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Cherwell Software (Colorado Springs, CO) in Oct 2018
Interview
I interviewed with 6 employees at Cherwell over the course of a month. I had multiple phone interviews and an onsite interview. During the process I got really positive feedback from a few of the interviewers. I was notified that I was not selected with a standard form letter and did request feedback but never received it.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Cherwell Software (Colorado Springs, CO) in Dec 2017
Interview
The process was in-depth but consistent. I went into each step of the process knowing what to expect and what was expected of me, which made the process straightforward with no surprises.
