Very nice conversations with David, the CEO at the time. Open and honest negotiations. Very forthcoming. We discussed the side benefits and they were very easy going about working hours and working from home etc, which was important for me. It couldn't have been much better in my opinion.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you like your day to be at a full time basis?
The process moved along quite quickly, with a rapid response to my application. An online video interview was arranged for a few days later and the interview lasted for about half an hour. It was an enjoyable process with out of the ordinary questions.
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Chessable (Barcelona) in Sept 2021
Interview
1. Typical screening with recruiter
2. Very badly designed interview assignment. They gave me 3 stories to complete and did not provide an estimate on how long I should take building it but gave me 7 days to complete. I completed the task fulfilling ALL the bulletpoints and wasted 4 hours for it (my personal rule is, interview assignments should not take more than this). Then I pass them the answer and they complain the app does not have x and y feature, then I'm astonished. If you wanted the app to do x, why in the world wouldn't you mention it ? Building all the features combined, with modular code could have taken way longer than this timeframe. Having said this, if the feedback they gave was more in the lines of "we didn't like how you did x because of y" I would have taken it as learning and just move on but their feedback was just "you didnt build all these features we didn't ask you to build"
Overall, this company does not value candidate's time and for such reason, first I'm happy I stopped here, and second, I recommend you don't bother, there are many many companies out there who WILL value your time.
