I applied in-person. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Christian Blind Mission (Whitchurch-Stouffville, ON) in Dec 2017
Interview
I was very reluctant to apply for this position as there were not many good reviews on this organization however; I felt compelled to apply because of the Mission. After researching the Organization, Charity intelligence and past 5 year statistics, became sceptical however decided to investigate further. My initial correspondence was with a Human Resource Professional who did offer support and encouragement during the process. I found her to match the expectation I held in my mind of someone working for the betterment of the Mission. During our two month exchange, the interview process began with a phone interview, followed by: providing a statement of faith and answering some generic questions. Then, a follow up was booked to meet in person and I had a very successful meeting with both the HR Professional and Director of Strategy. Now, I am a firm believer of Interviewing your Interviewers. I dropped a couple of cues relating to Disability and found the responses did not add up to the companies Mission Statement. Interview went fantastic, came back for a second interview with a women who immediately wrote me off with snarky ness and turned me off with her “ all about me “ touting on her accomplishments and rudely inturupting my accomplishments.
Note to Interviewers:
1. Be careful, you never know who you are talking too.
2. Leave your assumptions at the door, think, what would Jesus do?
3. People who give, are not stupid and to advertise a position in a greedy hungry way touting a “dream team” is an insult to the intelligence of your Donors.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Asked me to write a letter to My Mom with no framework. They didn’t even know if my Mom was alive or dead because they didn’t ask.
Also, they stood outside laughing and talking before coming back into the room.
