I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Circulor (Perth, Western Australia) in Dec 2021
Interview
Hands down the most disorganised recruitment process I have experienced over my entire career. Here’s how they wasted my time:
1. Initial phone screen - I clarified my salary expectations, recruiter confirmed they can be discussed in the next interview
2. Interview with peer - went well, told it’ll be 2 more rounds of interviews and my salary expectations will be met.
3. Interview with Hiring Manager - standard interview questions around previous experience and what they want to achieve. Clarified salary expectations again, confirmed no issues.
4. Interview with another Manager - unprofessional attitude, kept interjecting with saying I was lying about my experiences and motivations like a typical sales person. Spent majority of the time glorifying his sales prowess.
5. Interview with HR (round 4 of what should’ve been 3) - general cultural alignment questions.
6. Hiring Manager offered role via email and requested another call to discuss salary details
7. Call with Hiring Manager - low balled my salary despite multiple rounds of confirming to meet my salary expectations from the get go. I refused, he said he’ll get back to me in 24hrs with a new offer
8. A week later, comes back with a higher offer that’s still below what we agreed. At this stage I’d already wasted enough time, requested to see an employment contract.
9. HR sends me a word document template contract, doesn’t even have my name, position or salary details filled in. All references to terms and conditions are for a different country to where I am. I ask a few pointed questions, fix up the contract, they agree, ask them to move forward.
10. Two weeks later they reach out to say oh hey, we have a new CRO who wants to meet. Asked them to send through a contract before engaging further, was promised they’ll revert back within a few days.
11. Ghosted me
Don’t waste your time with these amateurs, you’re meant for better things!
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. Much of your comment is fair and we’ve taken the feedback on board and refined our processes as a result. This role was, unfortunately, put on hold at a time when we changed strategy - this can sometimes happen when a business scales up quickly. Please accept our apology and best wishes.
