I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at City Parks Alliance (Washington, DC) in Jan 2023
Interview
I had a screening interview by phone with the executive director. I was a bit surprised to be speaking with the head of the organization for such an interview, but it's a small organization, and she's obviously very interested in who fills every position on her staff. But after the interview, I never heard from her or anybody else at the organization again. She couldn't be bothered to take just 30 seconds to notify the other candidates that they aren't being moved to the next stage of the interview process. This just shows extreme rudeness and that she has no respect for people she comes into contact with - those who provide her with something for her benefit. It's just as well that I didn't get moved on in the interview process or get an offer because her awful treatment of candidates at that stage of the interview process probably means that she treats staff - those she actually hires - with great disdain and disrespect. I find this astonishing because the organization's mission statement says it "engage[s}" people and that the organization is about playing a role in the social well-being of residents of cities. Yet at a small, basic level, the head of the organization treats potential staff and potential supporters like dirt on her feet - something to be disposed of and ignored. I can't believe she has lasted as long as she has at this organization if she can't even handle the basics of courtesy and decency to people she comes into contact with. Her bio says that she's built the organization into a "learning" institution. Yet after 18 long years, she hasn't learned even basic kindness to people who engage with her organization. Pathetic!
