I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at City Year in May 2013
Interview
First there was an application through AmeriCorps website and an essay to submit to City Year. After which we had a phone interview followed by a interview over video chat. The overall process was not too hard. There was a bit of a wait to find out if you are accepted or not. Which is understandable because of how many applications there are.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Basic interview questions. Strengths and weaknesses ect.
Very simple. Quick virtual interview and pretty simple questions. Research their values and what not and you should be good to go. As far as I remember it was a single interview and decision is relatively soon after that.
Really friendly and welcoming. Try to make it as comfortable as possible and share about the work they do. They want to ensure applicants are making the right decisions and that they assess the values.

Interview
Done over zoom and not an overly long process interviews are usually conducted by the IM for a school in the city you are applying for but if you have a pulse you should be fine
