I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at ClearBank (London, England) in May 2026
Interview
They were unprofessional - I had an interview a few weeks ago and the recruiter was supposed to email me to prepare for the next stage, but I never received any response. Don't waste your time.

Question 1
I was asked about my current position and my previous experiences in the field.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at ClearBank in Apr 2025
Interview
Following the initial phone interview conducted by the talent acquisition team, I was scheduled for a technical interview consisting of a call with two software engineers from the technical team.
During this interview, they posed a series of questions pertaining to API design, microservices architecture, logging practices, and my previous professional experiences to assess my familiarity with microservices. I provided detailed responses that exceeded their expectations, leading them to perceive my expertise as more advanced than that of the interviewers.
However, after a week had passed without any communication from their side, I followed up to inquire about the status of my application. I was informed that they had selected another Senior Software Engineer with a background better aligned with the company's objectives, as that candidate presented more compelling examples of relevant experience.
Overall, I found the hiring process to be less than professional, and I hope they will take steps to enhance their approach in the future.

Talk about one of your previous projects you have recently completed?
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at ClearBank in Apr 2025
Interview
General 30 minute chat with TA which went well , the next step was a first stage which took almost a month to get to.
This delved further into my experience with c# , cloud infra and general software skills.
This went well and i was told the next step would be a technical test and it would be quick as "they don't hang around" unfortuantley this took several more weeks to actually receive.
The test itself is a general refactoring exercise fairly basic. I completed this and sent it back within a week and was then ghosted for nearly another month only receiving feedback when I chased.
I was unsuccessful with the test falling short of their standards.
During this time i became aware clearbank were trying to recruit a member of staff from my current organisation even though he had already declined their offer, this is even more disappointing that they were doing this without wrapping up my current application which took nearly 2 months in total.
All in all a disappointing and unprofessional experience.
