First there's a transparent email stating their process -meet with the hiring manager for 45min, then a SIX panel interview, and then leadership. I did not speak to an individual outside of my interview, everything was automated or self-serve. The interview itself was one of the worst interview experiences I have had a candidate. It began with 0 context of the role or company from the interviewer, straight into "tell me about yourself". Within the first 3 minutes I could tell I was not was she was looking for. She attempted to ask some indirect leading questions, but without the context of the company role (aside from the posted job description), company structure or tools she did not get the answer she was hoping for, and it showed on her face. When asked about the tech stack so that I could identify potential projects to discuss, I understand security, but if you have "eight testing tools" and wouldn't even name one so that I may provide an example of implementation or use, that’s….a great experience and not handicapping at all. I understand that your time is valuable and that Cloudflare has some amazingly talented people, but a little humility and humanization would go a very long way. Even if the candidate isn't ideal, treat them with respect and kindness because you're representing the company, leadership at that. Icing on the cake? I couldn't even send a thank you note as the interviewer's email was not provided, and the email format of the “recruiter” did not fit theirs, further de-humanizing the experience. It's been 3 weeks, and I've still heard nothing.
