Interview
I interviewed at CognitiveScale in November 2018. The interview process took approximately 3 weeks. I really enjoyed talking to the team during the entire process. they were very friendly and asked insightful questions.
The first round was a telephonic phone screen. The interview involved in depth discussion of 2 of my past projects. They also asked related conceptual Machine learning questions.
The telephonic interview was followed by an onsite interview at their Austin location. The onsite interview had about 5 rounds. The interviews covered a broad range of topics. Everything that was there on my resume was discussed. I felt the questions asked by the team showed their solid knowledge of the subject. 2 of the rounds were case study rounds where I was given a data case study to solve and explain my approach.
I was also invited for a lunch discussion with the team. The overall atmosphere at the company was very friendly and people seemed to really enjoy their work. Everyone I met seemed really smart and enthusiastic about their work.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CognitiveScale (Austin, TX)
Interview
Recruiter reached out to me via LinkedIn. There was an initial call with her and a phone screen with 2 members on the ML team. That was followed by an on-site with 4-5 interviews. All the interviewers were really nice and knowledgeable. There were no trick questions - the team was genuinely trying understanding my experience / skill set / fit with the team. The interviews covered a wide range of topics from ML, engineering and two cases where the approach was evaluated rather than the solution. Final round was a chat with co-founder. The interview process was great overall and the recruiter kept me in the loop at every step which was pretty cool.

Interview
I had an initial 1-hour phone screening with two of the team members first. I got contacted by the recruiter after the interview to schedule the second round (on-site). I interviewed at the Austin office in February 2019. The on-site interview process took almost 3 hours. The interviewers asked many interesting technical, engineering, and behavioral questions. A had very interesting conversations with some of the team members and got to know what kind of projects the company is involved in and what is required from me. All in all, I had a great experience interviewing with them.

I had a phone interview with a Machine Learning Research Scientist and a Machine Learning Engineer, followed by an onsite interview. We had some in-depth discussion on my experience in machine learning, we also worked through some cases that involved applying ML to real world problems. My interviewers are a combination of ML research scientists and engineers who are highly capable and super friendly.
