I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Crosscap Media Services (Toronto, ON)
Interview
Lacks transparency - no customary HR call, the hiring manager does the initial call, followed by a demo presentation on any abstract technical topic and technical interview. Salary was never discussed, obvious red flag as I doubt if they even have HR personnel. I didn't have any interest to pursue this opportunity anymore.
I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Crosscap Media Services (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2018
Interview
Met with Product manager and designer in person for 45 minutes. They informed that the next step was design exercise. Exercise brief clearly mentioned not to spend more than 3 hours. They had requested one finished mockup. I finished the exercise in 3 hours and submitted the mockups meeting their ask. I avoided too much of documentation assuming that I'd walk them through the exercise in person or over the call. After a couple of days I got rejection with the feedback that they were looking for more work on UI. Idiots did not have courtesy to take out time to understand my design solutions or set the ask matching their expectations. How hard it is to understand that you can't understand the reasoning behind the design solutions just by looking at the final mockups! Team is either abusive of candidate's time or just purely dumb.
I would not recommend to interview for the design roles at this company for sure! DO NOT WASTE TIME AT ALL, unless you have to. Skip on the exercise if you have to interview ever.
