      Talent Acquisition Partner Interview

      10 Jul 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Rotherham, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Cura Terrae (Rotherham, England)

      Interview

The interview process was slow, this may be due to the fact the role had originally posted the role as perm when it was an FTC. I was eventually contacted by recruitment. I found the initial contact to be very formal , the teams call was arranged for the following week. I arrived 3 minutes early to the call, the lady arrived 4 minutes late with no apology. The first 10 minutes of the call was centered around the the interviewers pregnancy, how she was very tired and could not be bothered with anyone or anything at this stage. This was a red flag for me given we had never met before, it was unprofessional. She then received an email so proceeded to read that by looks g away from me at the other screen and responded ' I don't know what they want'?? maybe try avoid reading emails and worry about it afterwards? Another red flag but I kept going. The screening call finally begun 15-20 mins in, I was given an overview of the role, heard all about the great things they had done in her past roles, as this role was a step down for her but she was able to work remotely full time given her location so it was convenient. I wasn't asked any questions about my skills so when I had the opportunity to interject , I would highlight my skills and experience in being a good fit for the role. I was told that I'd be taken to the next round of interviews with the hiring manager this was on site and was arranged for the week after. I attended site met with said lady and another the office was pretty glum and the interview took place in the small room where HR/TA worked. Neither of the panel had a copy of my CV to hand, just a note pad esch. They advised that we would have more of a conversation than competency questions, so basically the interview lacked structure and was all over the place. The interviewer had her mobile on the table Infront of her, 60 seconds into the 'interview' her phone received a text, that she proceed to read whilst in mid sentence and then she went silent whilst she continued to read! I could not believe my eyes! 3rd red flag. Basic questions asked, they had hand written one question each they wanted to ask me which were very basic, it felt like an easy process but the lack of structure made it difficult for me to be fully engaged. I was told I'd hear back the day after, hesrd nothing. Naturally I followed up on email to thank them for their time etc.. the day after I recieved a response from the hiring manager , however the email was addressed to another candidate who I assume they had recently interviewed, how can they get my name wrong, the email I sent clearly states my name? 4th red flag.. it took 4 days in total to get my feedback, on the morning of that I had emailed recruitment to chase , I was sent an email saying they had been busy and decided to offer another candidate who had similar experience in terms of their business size and industry. Very generic feedback as these were not essential criteria as I was informed. Not even the courtesy of a phone call to discuss my feedback and give me an opportunity to share mine which any decent recruiter would do. 5th red flag and their loss!
