The interview process with Current was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful.
Firstly, the recruiter completely missed our scheduled call and only responded after several follow-up emails. There was no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience, just a last-minute request to speak. During the call, there was no introduction, no explanation of the team, and no engagement. I was asked to introduce myself, received no response, and then the recruiter simply read the job description in a robotic way before ending the conversation. It felt careless and dismissive.
The hiring manager interview was even worse. The interviewer came across as arrogant and dismissive from the start. He spoke rapidly without checking for understanding, frequently interrupted my answers, and questioned my background in a confrontational way. Most unprofessional of all, he repeatedly picked up his phone during the interview — typing, checking the screen, and even while I was speaking. This happened multiple times and made it obvious he was not paying attention. Combined with his condescending attitude, it created a highly disrespectful experience.
When asked what he liked about working at Current, he did not actually answer the question. Instead, with eye-rolling and a dismissive tone, he claimed that unlike other companies, Current is truly “data-driven.” It came across as arrogant rather than informative, and offered nothing meaningful about the company itself.
I have participated in many interviews throughout my career, but this was one of the most unprofessional. Both the recruiter and the hiring manager demonstrated a lack of respect for candidates and for the interview process itself. Interviews should be a two-way exchange, but here it was clear that respect and professionalism were missing. Candidates should carefully consider this before moving forward with the company.
