During my first call with the recruiter she introduced herself, then immediately started the call by saying I was overqualified and that she had not seen an offer come above $40k, we had not talking about anything related to the position or what salary I was looking for before she said that. So from the jump it felt off and like she was trying to keep things under a budget to hit her numbers or collect a bonus.
Then my 2nd interview got rescheduled twice in less than a week. The two customer service managers I spoke with were great, the interview was conducted very well by them, and they mentioned " we'll be in touch next week". A week goes by and I had to contact the recruiter who said " I'll have an update next Monday". Monday comes, no update. Then I reach out and she finally says a separate hiring manager, who I never spoke with, has been out for the past week and would be making the final decision soon.
The entire process was so dysfunctional and it felt like I was doing the recruiter's job half the time.
I feel fortunate to have found work elsewhere and not offered the position after this experience.
If you are applying for remote work then expect them to not value you or your time and lowball salary negotiations from the start.
