      IT Manager Interview

      28 Dec 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Englewood, CO
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 10 months. I interviewed at DISH (Englewood, CO) in Aug 2010

      Interview

Dish has higher than average turn-over at all positions. This means their are plenty of openings across the company. Push on the recruiters to here your story and get the ball rolling. You may find that you have to coach the recruiter to provide the next step. Once they assess your skills will fit in the organization, you will be asked to take an on-line test. Some people are turned-off by the pre-screening testing. Understand that very few people don't make it through this portion, so don't sweat it. After the initial testing they will bring you in for a series of interviews with managers, directors, VPs, and perhaps the CIO. Everyone of them has to buy-off on you candidacy for you to proceed. If you get passed the interviews, you will think that you are going to receive an offer. There are, in fact, at least 2-3 more tests: the Wunderlich, a personality test, and a tech-savy test. All-in-all, the hiring process is slow: like 2-3 months. Every position requires numerous sign-offs all the way up the management chain and perhaps even finance chain.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Honestly, the questions were typical for a corporate and professional position. Some questions tested your skill set, some probed your work/management style. The questions that set Dish apart tried to assess your ability to function in their combative culture or were just plain weird. - How do you deal with difficult people? - How do you deal with a difficult manager? - Are you going to leave after 4 months? - What have you heard about Dish and how do you feel about it? - Why would you want to work for Dish? - How do you feel about working long hours and weekends?

      IT Manager I Interview

      9 Feb 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Denver, CO
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 2 days. I interviewed at DISH (Denver, CO) in Dec 2010

      Interview

Day long interview process after making it through campus interview and phone interview, as well as initial IQ test. Loved the place, but couldn't afford to move to Denver. Everyone is very friendly; I'd definitely recommend working here if you can afford it or if you live in the area.
