I have moved teams internally and it was a smooth process. I found an interesting position with in the company and I informed my manager about my interests in lateral movement. He connected me with my recruiter Louie Moreno who helped me in coordinating and setting my interviews. He gave enough time to prep and provided all the required material to set me up for success in the interview. He made sure that the transition and onboarding to new role is smooth by providing updates at every step. The interview consisted of 2 rounds, one with team manager and the other with the Director of the org. Questions were mainly focused on SQL, NoSQL databases, Python scripting, real time event processing with Spark and Kafka . Few behavioural questions regarding how would react in a given scenario, what would you do to resolve conflicts within a team and among teams. Overall its a smooth and great experience.
