      Mid-Level API Developer Interview

      27 Oct 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Philadelphia, PA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at DLL (Philadelphia, PA) in Oct 2025

      Interview

Was given a take-home assignment, which I did. Then, was contacted by HR, for second remote interview with two senior devs, both who were professional. It was live coding, adding on to my take home assignment. After this interview, was ghosted, never contacted by HR again. HR who schedule the interview was extremely unprofessional. First off, they spoke very broken English, that was hard to understand often times (they were outsourced from India). The take home assignment documentation was in MS word, instead of PDF, with some of the text cut off and impossible to read without copy pasting. Before my second interview, I asked the topic, so I could prepare for the interview, and they told me it would be on reviewing and talking about the take home assignment I did. Then, an hour before the interview, they contacted me again, saying it would be live coding, instead, destroying all the prep work I did before, which then became irrelevant. Finally, it has now been 9 days since the interview, and I have heard nothing since, so seemingly have been ghosted by them. This highly unprofessional treatment by HR during interviews in 2025 is seriously making me consider leaving tech as a field, despite 5 years experience, and go back to college for an accelerated bachelors in nursing. I am always professional when interviewing, so why can't HR be so too?

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Asked to do a take home assignment, where you were given mock data in typescript object for users, then asked write an API for users to query them, being able to sort by id and name, with pagination. Also given an empty React project, for front end. Was told could use any tools for this.
