      People Operations Manager Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at DataGrail in Jan 2023

      Interview

I applied online in late December and was contacted almost immediately for a first-round interview. The interview was re-scheduled the morning of, and they switched interviewers. I booked the call through a calendly link, but the scheduler mistakenly booked another call, not realizing that I had already set time with this other person. I was given 30 min notice for this 2nd mistake call. I frantically tried to get ahold of both the scheduler and interviewer, but didn't get a response for a few hours. No one acknowledged the mistake. There was also some messiness in the invite - the body stated that it would be a 60 min google meet call, but it was actually a 30 min zoom call. I brushed it off and figured the scheduler was probably a new coordinator who deserved some slack. I had a great call with the recruiter who told me about the roll and confirmed it was fully remote. They didn't yet know the comp at that point, but they promised to follow up within a day or two with the next steps, comp range, and benefits info. Over a week later, they sent me a template message to schedule the next steps. I followed up and requested the comp range, but never received a response. I was also a bit alarmed to learn that the original scheduler was actually an experienced manager, not a new coordinator. The next call was with the hiring manager. I enjoyed their personality and the conversation flowed naturally, but there were so many red flags. They lacked basic HR knowledge and told me that the role would require two office visits per week (the job description clearly says remote, as confirmed by the recruiter). They also said they didn't have the comp range handy and would need to check with the recruiter. I would expect a hiring manager to know that offhand unless they're doing a massive amount of hiring - it seemed like an excuse to avoid the topic tbh. After THREE weeks, I received a no-reply rejection with no feedback. Funnily enough, the role is still posted online. I'm glad I didn't go further before getting rejected, because this truly felt like a waste of time

      Interview

Wow. I had almost the exact same interview process as the individual below! Rescheduled to speak to a different recruiter. Had a really great conversation with the recruiter and was told she'd like to move me forward and speak with the other recruiter and to look for an invite, whose requisition this was originally. Never heard back and sent a follow-up email and was then told it required 2 days a week in office, in which I said I didn't mind. Was told they'd be in touch again and completely ghosted. Very tacky and kind of surprising, given the recruiter seemed to be quite pleasant to talk to.
