      Sales Development Representative Interview

      12 Apr 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Databricks in Jan 2021

      Interview

I applied for the SDR role because it was entry level and did not explicitly state any minimum year of requirement in a sales role. For context, I recently graduated from college. Something about Databricks is that on their careers page, they highlight how they are "committed to learning and development at every level." I decided to speak on this during my initial phone screening because I admired that about the company. Talking about that was probably the demise of my interview. I think what the recruiter did next was with good intention but it lead to just a horrible experience overall. She suggested that I try to apply to companies like Google or Facebook, yes you read that right, she suggested Google or Facebook, because they have larger cohorts and hire more people... whereas Databricks is not that of a large company yet so it would not be an ideal place for a new graduate to start. Ended the call by letting me know I would not be a fit for the role.

      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Databricks (New York, NY)

      Interview

First there was a phone screening, recruiter was very nice and it was straightforward, she talked about salary, job description and talked about next steps. Then there was a Zoom interview with the Hiring Manager who was extremely nice, outgoing and interested in the conversation. Last interview was a role-play and then another conversation with an SDR.

      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Databricks

      Interview

      1. Recruiter Screening 2. Hiring manager round (includes one mock cold call) Interviewer was rude, keep looking down at something the entire time and was not actively listening. I eventually was rejected and I’m glad I did because I would’ve declined the offer anyway. I had high expectations about databricks being a revolutionary company but if this is the kind of people that the company has, then I’d stay away from it.
